GRANTMAKING POLICIES
GRANTMAKING – FISCAL YEAR 2007-08
2007-2008 Grantmaking Total - $695,000
2007-2008 Commitments
- Mary Immaculate Hospital - $30,000
- Bernardine Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis - $165,000
2007-2008 Local Community Funding - $500,000
- Major Project – Extension of S.O.S. to Gloucester and the Middle Peninsula ($50,000 one time request from Bay Aging)
- Funding to support programs/projects which the Foundation has in some way been responsible for bringing/helping to bring into existence
- Protect Our Kids conducted by Transitions Family Violence Services - $20,000
- S.O.S. (Senior Outreach to Services) conducted by the Peninsula Agency on Aging - $20,000
- ARC of the Virginia Peninsula - $10,000 for the Recreation Program for People with Developmental Disabilities
- Single-year Funding (salary, program/project, technology) - (maximum request is $25,000)
- Multi-year Funding (salary, program/project, technology) – (maximum request is $15,000) The amount granted in 2007-08 will be awarded in 2008-09 and 2009-10. The awarding of the grant in the two subsequent years will be dependent upon the successful completion of the items in the Statement of Agreement.
- Core Operating Support Funding – (maximum request is $10,000) This funding helps underwrite the day-to-day infrastructure and basic organizational costs that enable an organization to carry out its mission.
- Discretionary Funds - $4,000
- Social Enterprise Workshop - $1,000

Applications are to be brought to the office of the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters Foundation during business hours, 9:00am – 5:00pm.
- January 28, 2008
Grant awards will be made by the Board of Directors of the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters Foundation
Discretionary Funds: These funds may be applied for at any time during the Foundation’s fiscal year.
- An agency applying for funding submits a letter to the Foundation indicating the amount requested and the purpose(s) for which the funds will be used.
- An agency, which is awarded Discretionary Funds, must sign the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters Foundation’s Statement of Agreement before receiving the funds.
